SHIPPING &
DELIVERIES

We use a courier partner to fulfill deliveries nationwide. You will receive a tracking number from the courier company once your order has been processed. Delivery times vary from 1 - 5 days depending on your location. Please note that we cannot deliver to PO Box addresses. Please visit our shipping policies page for more information.

Shipping costs start at R60 and are dependent on the weight of your order. We offer free shipping for all orders over the value of R1000. Please visit our shipping policies page for more information.

We can deliver to any residential or commercial address in South Africa where a person is available to receive the order. If you aren't at home during the day, we would suggest having your order sent to your place of business or somewhere where you know someone will be available as the order will need to be signed for.

Unfortunately, we do not offer shipping internationally through our website.

Yes, you can select “pick up” at checkout and collect your order from our roastery and HQ in Paarden Eiland during our business hours (see “what are your business hours”). You will receive a notification when your order is ready for collection.

Yes! Visitors are always welcome at the roastery and HQ during business hours. You can purchase coffee or equipment from us directly at the roastery and HQ. We accept card payment, Snapscan payments or cash in store. We do not hold stock of coffee but will always be available to pack coffee while you enjoy a cup or have a tour of the operation. For our Roastery and HQ address, please visit the Contact Us page of our website.

Yes! We have a small café which is located at the reception in Inospace Island Works in Paarden Eiland. You are welcome to visit the café for a coffee. Please note that we do not offer sit down options and everything is served as a take away.

COFFEE

Yes, we offer to grind any coffee at no additional charge. When selecting your blend, you will be able to choose to order beans or any one of our ground coffee options best suited to your needs. We offer the following grind options from fine to coarse: espresso, moka, filter, cold brew, plunger

We roast coffee at least three times a week and we do not hold coffee stock on the shelf so you are guaranteed fresh coffee. Every order is packed to order and your bag will have a roast date when packaged so that you know exactly when your coffee was roasted. In general, the coffee you receive is usually roasted within a week of being packaged.

Unfortunately we can't guarantee that all the coffees we offer will be to everyone's personal taste. We offer a variety of blends and suggest you start by ordering a small bag of each to try the coffee and then you can order more if you decide it's the right coffee for you. We are sure that one of the blends will work for you!

We suggest that you consume your coffee within 6 months from the roast date.

Store your coffee in an airtight container or seal bag in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

CAPSULES

Our 100% compostable capsules are compatible with all standard domestic Nespresso coffee machines.

The 10MM Green Self Protected Capsule is a compostable capsule that complies with the EN 13432 standard. The 10MM Green Self Protected capsule is certified and accredited by TÜV Austria.

We give our capsules 1 year shelf life from the date of production. Our capsules are double barriers and all capsules are flushed with nitrogen to remove excess oxygen from the capsule before sealing to maximize freshness.

The compostable capsule shell is imported from Machiavelli capsule manufacturers in Italy, however, we fill and encapsulate all coffee capsules at our roastery in Paarden Eiland using our very own freshly roasted coffee.

CHECKOUT &
PAYMENT

We use PayFast to facilitate payments at checkouts. You can choose to pay by card, scan to pay or Instant EFT.

Online orders can be canceled within 1 hour after the order is placed. Should you wish to cancel your order for any reason, please call us immediately on 021 569 9394 to request this or email hello@smakcoffeeco.com. Please note that we aim to process orders as quickly as possible after receiving and any orders that have been processed and packaged will not be able to be canceled.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Yes, customers can pause the subscription from the customer portal.

There are two ways customers can manage their subscriptions:

  1. Customers can just walk through and purchase products - you have to provide an email for that to get your magic link. As per Shopify limitations, it automatically gets expired every 7 days.
  2. Customers can create an account on the Shopify store and log in to it. When you log in, you will see the "Manage Subscription" button. Clicking it will lead you to your customer portal, where you can manage your subscriptions.

Yes, there is a 3 month minimum subscription period in order to benefit from the subscriber’s discount.

Customers can trigger an email from the customer portal to update the payment details. The email is sent from Shopify.
